Step 4 Step Community / Step 1 / Know Your Community True Facts

The LKDSB Pathways Program

  • All students will eventually join the workforce and the LKDSB Pathways Program is designed to provide opportunities to allow students to research, explore and make informed decisions regarding their own secondary education; plan an appropriate post-secondary destination (Apprenticeship, College, University or Work) and potential career opportunities
  • Pathways enables students to examine their skill sets, interests and hobbies and determine related career opportunities for exploration
  • The program also encourages regular re-assessment of skills and interests and re-evaluation the pathway.  Flexibility is built into our program to allow for students to acquire new skills and interests as they grow and mature.
  • The local community plays an important role in the LKDSB Pathways Program

Step 1 – KNOW YOUR COMMUNITY

  • Students will gain knowledge of their own  skills, interests and abilities by completing self-assessments
  • Community members may wish to discuss the skills, strengths and interests required in particular career areas with students via guest speaking in a local school and/or acting as a mentor for a student
  • Community members may wish to assist students in the research and exploration of the many local resources, services and employment opportunities
