Step 4 Step College NOC Codes

Lisa's Story
Library Technician

I always really liked school and I got great marks.

My friends and I were at the top of our class and it was just assumed that we would all become doctors, teachers, whatever.

Then my family went through a hard time. My marks fell from 90s to 70s and I failed one class. I couldn’t believe it. I was really depressed, like, REALLY depressed, worried about what to do next and what I would be able to afford.

I always loved books and I did a co-op at a bookstore and a public library in my final year.

That helped me to understand that I had options – I could get training in something that I really enjoyed.

My friends were great – they thought I should go for it. So I went to college and graduated as a library technician.

That was three years ago and I just bought my first house. The thing about high school is, it’s free. You have to pay for everything after that. For me finishing school gave me options, so it was a great investment. So is my house.
